Red (my New Hampshire Red) laid her first egg today. She is 8 months old. It had blood on it, and I check her tail and it had blood too. But she just plopped it right down in the run. I cracked it open - two yolks.

I couldn't be more proud. You would've thought I shot that egg out myself.

LOL. Way to go Red!

The Orps I got from Tennesseeckn are doing exceptionally well. I can tell a big difference over my last Orps. These are very healthy.
In the interest of everyone else I am only going to post one pic but if you want to see more I have updated their folder on my profile page. Any guesses on sex? I am going out on a limb & saying 3 pullets & 1 cockerel

Here are the 2 EEs. I am willing to bet one is a pullet but would not put money on both of them being pullets....yet. They are approximately 4 months old.

The one on the right is where I put my money & below is a close up of her

Are they the same age and breed?

I got the vaccine. They are shipping it on Monday. Vaccine and shipping was $35. You had to pay extra because it was a live virus and they had to ship it a certain way. You could pay even more and get it shipped quicker. I chose not to.

From what I've read, the vile has to be used within two hours of opening it. After you use it, you cannot put it in the frig. It has to be destroyed. (must be some serious stuff) I also read that you have to re-vaccinate within so many days. (don't know if they are sending more than one vile so you can do that or not)

Yes they are English type Orpingtons from Tennesseeckn. I think the blue ones probably hatched at least a day after the blacks (just a guess on my part).
I looked at your album. I wouldn't take it to the bank, but here's my guess on gender.

Black with the bushy tail is a pullet. Definitely.

The other black looks girly to me, too, but I'd keep an eye on it.

The blue with the darker head looks almost definitely like a cockerel. He's days away from having the tell-tale naked butt.

The little blue one has me wondering. If it's a couple of days younger than the others, which is completely possible, it could be a feathering in like a pullet OR it could be a runt that's the same age and is a cockerel.

So, one probable girl, one probable boy, and two I'm-not-sure-yets.

Hey, Contrast. What do you think? You've grown out more this season than me.

From that angle, left to right... pullet, questionable (but leaning cockerel), then cockerel, then pullet

Thanks. Those are my guesses too. I am also holding out hope for the small one to be a pullet. We will see what the upcoming week brings in their development.
