I would be glad to keep tabs on votes.

Remember the signs I designed after the last picnic.
Well I was asking a price on them and somehow she thought I wanted them so she went ahead and made two.
The price is low enough that I will go ahead and get them so it will help us find each other.

The will look similar to this:

Nice job on the sign... did you design it?

I might try it depending on how I look and if anyone is off to go with me. Just to look, not to show. Too much to do when showing.

All I can say online is this: I was in a industrial accident at work. I got sucked into a machine and to keep the nasty details out... I'm seeing a plastic surgeon. Meanwhile I'm out of work and bored stiff, with a face only a mother can love. (I joke... it's a coping mechanism). Yes, I have help around... that was Kim you met. Not your Kim... you know her already... this Kim. lol. My mother helps with the bird chores too... they are getting better treatment then every actually. Since I'm not worried about pure eggs right now I'm turning them all loose daily... all together. It makes me happy to see them all out in the grass anyways. It also makes me realize how many birds I have. lol.

So, I'll be bothering ya'll alot more and then one day I will be busy again... maybe... who knows. Doesn't look like it will be soon by the way it went today at the doc... nothing they can't fix these days though.

That's awful. Industrial accident sounded bad enough, but it sounds like it doesn't even touch what you're going, through. I'm glad you're got a good support system. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

I'm so glad I'm not from Knoxville. lol. I'm sorry you were treated poorly there. Really, how can any town be snobbish that hosts the Tennessee Valley Fair?

OK, so I'm just so excited that everything is ready, I had to share some pics.....

That's awesome!

Ok, last picture...sorry. Just so excited to finally have it done! I haven't hung the food and water yet, but with no chickens, it can wait. I've ran two hot wires around a 6 foot high 2x4 welded wire. One about 10 inches off the ground, another around 4 feet. Lots of vegetation and some dead logs that are filled with bugs and critters for the chickens to find and take care of. I've also layed out the typical chicken wire around the outskirts as an apron for digging predetors. It goes out 4 feet from the fence and climbs 2 feet up the fence at the bottom. Buried it below about 8 inches of mulch. I've strung heavy fishing wire back and forth on top to discourage all those hawks that fly overhead from thinking about swooping down. Two latches on the fence door and two on the coop for those smart coons. With me leaving out in the woods, I think I've tried to cover all the predetors that i have around me - hawks, coons, possum, skunks, coyotes, my own cats and the neighbors dog.

It might not be telling in the picture, but the run is about 40 feet by 60 feet. Hopefully it's all safe for the upcoming new chickens! As soon as they are comfortable in their new surroundings, we'll see how some free ranging during the day goes.

@Rockin That looks awesome. Looks like you really had a good plan before you started.

@tnchickenut Yep designed this after the last picnic. the location was a little hard to find and someone said it might help to have signs.
ME, I am ashamed of mine compared to yours. Mine has be remodeled at least 3 times and is currently under construction again.

This time into a chick house for raising chicks through the winter.
Extra insulation for easy heating, 8 brooders with interchangeable parts that slide in and out for easy cleaning.
Should be able to run a batch of chicks every two weeks and have P.O.L. ready for sale in the spring time (when they sell for the best money)

A couple of years ago I had close to 300 adults to feed through the winter, that was EXPENSIVE.

With lack of sunshine most did not start laying till 8 or 9 months.
When all was said and done, we went into the hole BIG TIME.

My thinking on this, babies and juveniles are less expensive to feed through the winter.
The should be approaching laying age when the weather warms in the spring when daylight is more abundant.
Also POL's should bring a lot better money.

Monday I set 29 eggs, Dominique, Lavender Orpington and Rhode Island Reds.
All three breeds different colors for easy identification.

Would have had more but my girls are like everyone else's, NOT laying worth a darn.
