Okay, for you people who are using them in your house: After they hatch, what do you do? Do you keep brooder in your house also? I could do that for about a month, but then I would have a melt-down.

And BAIRO, I started shots. How long after I am done do I need to wait before I can use that vaccine for ILT?

Listening to your threads makes me realize how much I don't know. I read, read, read, read, read.....books, magazines, Internet, etc. and still IGNORANT. You people are advanced. You are hatching 80 eggs under a hen, and I just want to keep my hen alive. lol
I'm still researching the ILT vaccine. I am afraid to say do it too early as the vaccine is modified live and causes the body to produce antibodies. I believe any antibiotic needs to be completely out of the system so the action of the penicillin does not attack the vaccine and render it useless. I'm going to ask one of the only other people I trust (with this stuff) to take a look at this for me and give an opinion also.

We are taking off this weekend to see what we can get done. In my experiences its freaking unreal how quickly they go from being cute little fluff balls to semi-feathered mess makers! I wish I prepared before getting chicks but if I waited to do then I would never get any. I think I have to be up against it in order to get something done.

Terry: I will try the shredded paper. I am not good about keeping up with my shredding so I have lots I can use

Also I do not know as much as some ppl but I think as long as we are trying to learn we are on the right path. I am holding off on the ILT vaccine for awhile since I just wormed, they are molting & the weather has changed but that's just me.

Oh how I envy a broody hen. I always say I will never raise baby chicks again then something happens & I have a brooder in my laundry room. I think I block out the past experiences & here I go again!

Soon, you will be going out in public to pick something up from the store (or baby chicks from the post office) wearing clothes you just cleaned the coop out with... hair undone, poop on your shoes, feathers in your hair, no makeup.... you'll look like a normal chicken person!

I don't believe it...1) two other people on here that actually know how to pronounce Ooltewah and 2) after taking a closer look at the burrow in your avatar, I realized I pass by your house almost every day taking my son to school. How ironic!
Now, that's ironic! My burro, Jay-jay, was bought for guarding the chickens. We constantly hear people say, down ooltewah-georgetown road, pass the house with the donkey-- Not knowing he's ours, LOL. Is your son in High school, or Elementary??

So yes there was poo on shoes , feathers in hair, dust on pants. She said omg this is just what you have said all your life you would never do. As she laughed out loudly.
