OK! Phew... I'm pooped!! What a day! You would think riding in the back seat of a car wouldn't be exhausting, but it is.

Here is some shots I took before the hens went to bed. I promised them....

First we have my Wyandotte who is by far the worst. My father told me to put her down she was ate so bad. From halfway back to her vent was GONE, just bone exposed. Here is what she looks like now and she is 3 years old, for the record. She was ate up when she was about 3 months old by that (#(*#@)#*@ of a clutch mate that came with her in the mail. I had ordered the layer special so they were all different... the bad one was a Ancona, incase you are curious.

Then her next to a Marans hen, for size reference... a Wyandotte should be bigger and more round than a Marans... this one's growth was stunted.

And one of the other much better off victims, a partridge cochin... her tail (the meat, now, not just feathers) was eatten off half way... this is her tail as it always looks... the Turken is coming out of a moult. But the Cochin's tail is deformed now.

You can also see one of my Australorps there on the right. Look at Lurken the Turken... she is so funny anyways and now she looks like a buzz cut chicken. lol. I love that girl. She is about 4 years old now and lays the BIGGEST eggs for a hen her size. Feel so sorry for her. "Lurkey the Turkey" is what I call her. Sorry... Just love my laying flock... it's where I can stick culls and keepers. They all have the saddest stories and the best personalities. ;)

Haha! Lurkey the turkey! Poor little chicklens... I don't think the bantam cochin I have is as bad as that, she still had skin covering all parts and there were pin feathers still there, I think dude didn't have enough space for them... I don't think I have enough space for them either, but if I can sale the extras I have I won't have to worry, will drop me down to 4 in the tractor they're in.

Yeah, probably what it was was feather picking then. That Ancona killed two Welsummers out of that clutch, maimed two cochins heads and tails, and then zombified the wyandotte. When I finally caught her in the act of eatting flesh... she was a gonner that moment. I am sorry... I don't like to kill in anger like that, but what else can you do with a bird who wants to eat meat off other birds?!?! And they were in a big tractor that I always use to grow out birds. No other group ever had that issue... that Ancona was NUTS! Needless to say, I do not recommend Anconas to anyone.

Ok, in case anyone else missed it.. I'm with itsthelaw... what is the time we're meeting again? place? I know we have it booked! I'm not sure about making the cupcakes but I'll try to!

I am with both of you. I think its Sunday from 1-4 pm and Holston River Park. I would also like to know what the head count is & what we need to bring. I remember we all bring our own drinks but other than that I don't know.

Is anyone coming to the show that might have some OEGB's? I am looking for some young pullets of diff colors to get started with. Or I would take chicks if you can sex them. The hubby still isn't sure about a rooster in the yard, so...... I want to keep my flock bantam girls. And I would like to buy from one of you folks or someone you highly recommend, that is close. And I would like to find someone that has Sebrights that I could talk to about them. I keep getting different answers about them being difficult.

Thanks!

My three sebright girls are not for sale! LOL!!!! I love them too much. What do you mean by "difficult"? To handle? To breed? Because a good sebright will hardly EVER have fertile eggs... their tail set gets in the way. Again... GOOD Sebrights. LOL!!!

That said, they go GREAT with OEGB and so great that I have OEGB/Sebright crosses... used to have alot more but gave them to a friend for her kids. The OEGB males did better at doing the job than the sebright males.

Difficult to handle? Not any more than any other bantam who is more independant.... like OEGBs.

No one comes to mind for either breed... You'll just have to look around, there will be a special area for 'sale' birds and people who are just there may have them in cages..

I don't know. Maybe someone can help. Are you talking about the show this weekend or the November one in Newport? From what I have gathered the one in Newport is a big show. I have not been to either. Good luck.
