Okay I have a question completely off topic but here goes: What does it mean when someone's profile says they are in "timeout"? I was doing some research & came across a name I knew & when I went to see their profile that's what it says.

TNBarnQueen - I find genetics to be funny as well! My friend has 4 black frizzled cochins and had a splash standard rooster on them, so you would figure all we would get is blues right? We got half blue half white.... some frizzled some smooth... so weird! We got so many roosters the first time that we thought it was a sex thing, then she hatches 1 chick out from a broody hen and wouldn't you know it is a white frizzled pullet! LOL

Littlechicklet - I wonder if that means they're being punished for something they said...

They are suspended for breaking rules.

Little... I got suspended once. It was utter BS. Trust me, I can get mean... I hadn't even got 1/20 of the way there.

ETA.... just this post about this will get me suspended.

Don't get me started. I already have my earbuds deep in my ear canal tonight. ;)

Its kind of how I took it or that they were no longer active in BYC maybe?

Also have another dumb question about lavender orps: are they project birds? I am asking because they look different to me. Please remember I am new to this so just asking.

Not trying to get you started....I promise I was just curious. This person is very highly regarded in some important circles and I found it odd that they were not active here. So in order to change the subject I asked a potentially dumb question next.

Yeah, pretty much, they're not recognized as a showable color... but a lot of people who breed them will eventually try to get them added in... or I think that's how it works, works that way in rabbits all the time! The reason they look different is because most colors are added in by using a different breed all together (and usually bantam).

I think I read somewhere they were crossed with a leghorn somewhere in the project and now they are working to get that look out but keep the color? or am I totally off base on this?

Hmmm... I dunno, most of the breeds that have several colors that I know of are actually bantams... Like my friend is wanting lemon blue Cochins, well someone thought mixing a buff to a blue got lemon blues, if you google it the BYC genetic nazi's were saying that its def not a lemon blue and the only true lemon blues are in bantams and blue marans... or something like that... it's just a lot of headache, I like them because they're pretty.. lol... I doubt they're from a leghorn though, I've never heard of a lavendar leghorn, let alone a black one (which lav is really self-blue isn't it? which is the dilute of black) I'm so lost sometimes!

LOL... they must have stated a fact twice. That is what I did. I was told "opinions need only be said once" ... but the moderator I was mainly chatting with could go on and on forever. AGH! You got me started!! lol
