Stacy says Cackle is an old timey hatchery... says they don't have all their own chickens, but already have selected "breeders". She could probably describe that better but she may not get on tonight..

SEVEN PAGES!!!! I'm not going to even try to catch up on that.....

Cackle is a family owned hatchery... the answers you are looking for lay at around 1 min in....

anyone know who supplies cackle hatchery? I did not think they were doing their own hatching??
yeah, they hatch themselves, and have contracts with breeders. I think everyone needs to watch the link above.... put some perspective on what a hatchery is. Alot of people think they own the birds, they don't... they buy the eggs, and usually have contracts to get eggs from breeders. For example, if I had 300 Sulmtalers breeding I could find a hatchery or hatcheries who would buy my eggs on mass orders, hatching them and selling the chicks for a small profit. Don't ask what happens with extra chicks.... you might not like the answer.

Did you get it? 60,000 birds on 80 different farms. Now, MPC said it was for biosecurity reasons they have birds scattered accross the US, but it is just the way it is done. That is why sometimes a hatchery might have great looking (say) RIRs, but they have crappy BRs... two different farms raised the parent stock.

About 20 views away from 100,000... lol... I wonder when we'll hit it?
10/24/12..... I WIN!!!!
