Question: When we bought our four silverlaced wyandottes, we got them from a lady that shows her chickens. She was seriously into it. She sold us the girls because they weren't as BIG as she wanted. These girls were huge compared to our goldenlaced. She said she fed them ________ to make them that big. (we assumed it was a steriod) Those girls are gorgeous now. What was she giving them to make them so big?

I tried to email them to ask, but they won't return my email now.

SOP is 8.5 lbs for roosters and 6.5 for hens.

OK doping chickens. Better watch it they will pull their championship titles.

Just kidding, I hope you know.

I have no ideal what it would be. I always thought the best way to get them bigger was to keep breeding the largest to naturally get a larger bird or maybe cross with an orp. What would you guess they weigh? Most of the SL Wyn I have seen have all been pretty good sized, about 7 to 9 lbs on the roo and 6 to 8 on the hens.

Mine are only 8 months old, and they are nice plump little girls. They are a lot bigger than the golden that is the same age. If I can get them together, I'll take a photo. The goldens and silvers are separated so they don't care for each other. The silvers are prissy and the golden is a little ghetto. (sorry, only way I know how to describe them).

And I'll find their poultry farm and post it. Maybe that will help.

The saying "birds of a feather" seems to ring true a lot btw... I used to free range at least 2 breeds together as long as the eggs were different, and it makes me laugh when the certain "colors" stay together and the certain "breeds" stay together... LOL

Hey ALL

If you have not realized it yet I can be a smart *ss.
I really do not mean anything by it.
I just get in moods and I can not help it.

I think I am trying to make a funny but a lot of times it comes across wrong.

If I have offended anyone I truly am sorry.
And when I offend you, please just remember that I really do not mean anything by what I say.

I am pretty sure that one day Rodney will ask me NOT to post on this page.

SO for all past, present, and future smart *ss, rude, hurtful comments,
I am sorry.

I never let more than one breed out at a time.
My boys are greedy and want ALL the girls for themselves.

When they are out they will even go up to the other pens and flirt through the fence.
And heaven help if one of the free girls walks up to a pen to talk to the neighbors.
Talking about jealous.

I can not remember where.
But several years ago when I was studying the different breeds.

I can almost swear that I remember that the golden was conciderably smaller than the silver.
Had something to do with where the came up with the golden color.
I wish I could remember where that was at.

I would go back to my bookmarks but
Chicken file has about 250 sites listed.
