I'm not seeing any reference to time. When does this baby start?
Most people showing and selling will start arriving about 6:30 AM

A good time to get there and just look around will be around 8 AM.

That gives you an hour before they start locking down the isles for judging.

They only have been locking down the isles that they are judging at that time.
The rest are open for browsing.

Piece of advice, "no charge", If you get there before 9 AM make sure to look first at the TWO (2) isles to your right when you enter the barn.
They are the two that take the most time to judge. Sometimes up to 2 hours per isle.

There will be dead times when you can walk around outside and look at the birds for sale.

Make sure to look for the Red/White Ford pulling an UGLY trailer with a sign that says "Talbott Poultry". Come by and say hello.

OH ya Terry and Rodney will be there also, along with many others.
I know Terry will be selling but not sure about Rodney.

I think its easy to find. Take I-40 East at the 40/81 split stay on I-40 and get off the Newport Exit 432B (it will be on the LEFT side of the interstate) it goes under the westbound lanes and comes out down on Hwy 25/70. The Fairgrounds is just up on the right about 2 miles. If you take the first exit 432A you will need to turn left at the foot of the ramp
I may sometimes gripe about where I live but it seems I am in a good location for most of the get together places. And for some reason seem to travel to most surrounding counties for one reason or another. I hope t see you there.

Ya'll done gone and made me look it up... 101 miles!!! ONE WAY!!!!

Everything is far for me. My town has one light... And feed? 30 minutes one way. That is why I get two weeks feed at a time.

called and found out the show starts at 9 am if you are not showing. I think I will try to make this! Sounds so exciting!!!

I haven't ever been to a poultry show yet. Not quite ready to show but would like to see how it works

Just to let everyone know there is a Fire Dept located on the hill above the Fair Grounds.

The Fair Grounds are kinda down the the valley below the road.

Does anyone here ever go to the auctions in Mountain city every other Saturday? I haven't ever been but keep meaning to go- haven't talked to anyone that is chicken obsessed that goes. Everyone that I have talked to just knows they sell chickens.

Bring a camera, because when you get home you will have seen so many awesome birds you will forget which one was what breed.

he said standing there scratching his head.

@ Genelda. My SFH roos and hens got a condo yesterday. We have started making chicken condos behind the barn. They are loving their new home so far! The chicks that I had got from you got really cold when we had the sudden cold snap a few months ago and I lost most of them but, I have 4 beauties left - just so happens to be one roo and 3 hens (isn't that how it usually works

) My juvenilles I hatched from you this spring are almost full grown and beautiful. I have one with a crest about as big as a polish. She is black and white and beautiful!!!

I never go to auctions anymore.
They also have one in Morristown.

A lot of the sellers pick up anything they can get "cheap" to sell there.

I am not saying they are ALL bad sellers but enough to give it a bad rep in my opinion.

I am TOO WORRIED about bring some diseased bird home and it getting into my flock.

I am SUPER careful about who I buy from these days.

I agree.. that is why I have been kind of reluctant to attend.
