Out of 23 eggs, 3-4 have red rings, one of them was iffy so put it back in for later candling.. Out of the other 19 eggs, only 7 look like anything is developing... the rest are just about see through, or rather I can see the yolk in the middle of them...

If you take the "clear" ones and crack them gently (after letting them cool.... there is a tip) you can google "Bullseye egg" and find pics of what a fertile and non fertile egg looks like. They could be unfertile or they could be undeveloped. There is a difference and as someone who sells hatching eggs and ships them.... I really would like people to start making that a habit.

Anywho... Just sayin' If you want to know if they were even fertile to begin with... that is how you do it.

Ok all... I have decided not to go to the show.

AJ - if you PM me your address I'll mail you the mealworms. They will be fine... I have all sorts of packing material for hatching eggs.

I just can't justify the money it takes to get there when I'm on a limited income right now with work comp checks and I have a ton of doctor appointments this month. I still have a thing with people seeing me and my original reason for going was to pick up a bird that died the day after I said I would take him.... so I can mail the worms for less than the cost of gas.

Also, it would take over 2 hours for me to get there and that is too much pressure to meet up with people to get things to them in such a tiny window of time. I'm late to everything always and I can't see myself being able to get there before 1 if I did go. So I'm going to have to pass this time.

Angie, you give you your address and I'll mail to you too. Still comes out cheaper. If I borrow a car (which I would have to do) then I have to fill it up... and the particular car I would have to borrow gets 15MPG.

Why can't there be chicken shows down here? It is closer for me to go to GA shows, ya know.

That'd be 12 of the 23 eggs she sent

I did message her with an update with how it's looking... I have taken 3 of the 4 eggs out with the blood ring, all orps btw (even the 4th egg)... I guess I'm fooling myself to think anything is developing in the clear ones, should go ahead and take them out...

I would give it a few more day, but keep updating the seller. Fertility can be tricky with Orps. I hear some time you have to trim their feather because they are so fluffy.

Went ahead and opened them up, 9 swedes - all just yellow yolks, maybe 2-3 scrambled from shipping but the ones that were whole were not fertile, after talking to the seller (who has been very pleasant this whole process) thinks it's because 2 of the hens she has with a new rooster and wonders if he's not doing his job or something along those lines... the 4 orp eggs - 2 unfertile, 1 had died probably day 2 or very early just 2 blood drops, the other one died a few days into it too because just one vein of blood.. then the 3 others that had blood lines didn't open but threw out, may have one more of the 7 still in the incubator that may have stopped...

can't tell so leaving it in there a little longer.

Hey I am lost, my friend Denise is looking for an OE, and I am not sure who "he" is. I know I sent a few people other ways before but they where just people I met on here etc... Not my "friend". I am sorry if things didn't work out.
By the way, everyone in my family was up last night sick, sure hope I don't get it! Still planning on coming tomorrow.
ohhh.. Sorry. Every time she called it was a broken connection, and I could have swore she said Denis. I must be going nuts.
I know she said she kept having to work late when we were supposed to meet up. I just figured her schedule was crazy right now and she gave up. I was not upset about it in the least. Is she coming to the show tomorrow with you?

OK.....sometimes he is picky about color and come to think about it....he and I where talking about black chickens cause I don't really like them unless they are something special...I think he is the same way. I know he loves the blue wheaten roo he got from you. I think mine is coming around. He is night biting me as much.

He is in his new pen with his 2 girls now. Got a surprise from a breeder...he messaged me and is sending me a dozen ameracauna eggs in the spring. My lav. and Terry''s came from him.
I think I am going to coop the ones I am showing tonight so I may swing by with your cage in case you need it to transport chickens to the show. If it is not too late I may bring my son and go ahead and set up the tent frame at our sight.

@Daphne...wish you could come. Sure gonna miss you not being there next to me.

See everyone there are the show!!!
Terry
