Eastern Washington

Vicki, thanks for the comments on the photos and animals and for visiting my blog :) It sound almost like you are offering to come out and help with chores!
Carrie, Black Copper Marans are the ones with dark eggs, right? That's exciting to look forward to new chickens.
lovinchickypoos, I am also so thrilled when I'm done with the brooders, too. I have one more batch of ducks to go. Here's another plug for ducks, ours were done with the brooder and sleeping outside in the three sided goat shelter by 5 weeks old.
Yesterday's weather here was pretty nice but windy still. It did calm down by the evening which was nice because our boys were looking forward to a hot dog roast in our pasture.
I'm hoping to get some gardening done today. I still have to plant out my asparagus that are in pots. I dug them up before the winter set in last year so I could move them with me out here to the country.
Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.

Oh, and Vicki, I forgot to mention. I bought the ducks online from Ideal Poultry. They included 7 free male chickens in my order to keep the duckies warm! Crazy, hey? Now we have a meat flock.

Hehehe, I laughed out loud at the "help with chores" comment!

And I think that's pretty assuming of Ideal. What if you weren't meat eaters? I'm glad they spared 7 little lives, it just seems to me like they should have let you know first. Or did they? I'd be screwed if that happened to me.

Thanks for my first laugh of the day!

p.s. edit to say, I don't know how to "like", or whatever, so all I can do is look at your pics. Don't even know what a blog is, and still type with just index fingers. I got left in technology"s dust.

Ruth laid a ginormous egg the other day!

It was a double-yolker.

In other news, I feel ginormous, too.

And I still have three months to go! At least I'm not a double-yolker!

ChaeBird, is that really you? Omg. youlre beautiful!!!!!!!

Aw, thank you. That's very sweet. My mother treated me to a shopping spree yesterday and I ended up with a whole new spring wardrobe, since all my belly-friendly clothing has been winter wear. I've been feeling very shlubby lately, so I forced myself to put on real clothes and fix my hair. :D

ChaeBird... congratulations!! You look just beautiful!! Sending grandma blessings to you and your little one!

Chae, That was sweet of your Mom! Us Mom's remember what it's like to not even want to get cleaned up, and hate to see our Daughters feeling that way. Is this your first?

About Ruth's enormous egg, wow. After that one, did she take a few days off? Just amazing she got it out.

Congratulations on your news of the baby! Hope the next three months are easy for you.

It is my first! We're very excited. :)
I wasn't planning on a big shopping spree, but I really appreciate my mom getting all these new clothes for me. I hardly ever get new things for myself. She's really excited about being a grandmother(I'm her only child, so she's been waiting) and keeps taking me out to look at baby things.

Ruth usually lays every two to three days anyway, so she didn't take an unusually long break after the monster egg. Just looking at that thing made me feel sorry for her, poor hen. Though I'm going to know how she feels here in a few months, I suppose!
