Easy Aussie potato cakes

    peel and slice potatoes in rounds no more than 1/4 inch thick ....boil until not quite tender or done. allow to cool . make a fish type batter...like flour, water ,salt and pepper or a beer batter (using beer instead of water) make it thick. heat oil of choice and dip each potato slice in batter and drop in hot oil...fry until golden. YUMMY crispy and great with ketchup [​IMG]
    In Aus you would be able to get these at almost any Fish and Chip shop.....I missed them so bad. Them and fried or steamed dim sims [​IMG]

    OMG I miss them so much too. My trips to the fish and chip shop usually resulted in a package of potato cakes and dim sims instead of any actual fish or chips! Thanks for the recipe - I'll have to try this.

    [​IMG] The first time I tried to copy/make them I didnt boil the potatoes first....ewwwie crunchy on the inside [​IMG]
    Now to perfect my sausage rolls meat!

    I made these the other day, just to eat with my chippies. they were nice, but they didnt turn out as well as I wanted.
