i have a polish chicken, 3 actually and one, the only one I'm certain is a hen has been acting completely different for the last 3 weeks.
Giget is 10 weeks old. First it was really hot out and I noticed she was just standing in the sun with her wings dropped. I got her cooled off and still she just stands where ever I put her. In the morning she will eat and drink some then back to standing. Mostly her head is almost touching the ground. She won't roost. Her crop feels normal but she is soooo thin! I had some sneezing and worried myself to death and treated everyone with tylan water soluble powder. My silkies and polish I separated and did injections since they are fairly little. I truly think the sneezing came from us doing construction on the coop (it's extremely old and needed new everything). I over analyze everything and probably wasn't a good idea to use antibiotics but regardless...ok so there was never any change in my Giget. I waited and now I'm using corid on my flock. Her poo looks awful. I'm able to get some good pics of that. I just don't know what to do. She is the sweetest chicken I've ever met and my favorite pet chicken. My girls came from a npip/ai clean breeder. I've called SEVERAL local vets and kept getting referred to someone else and I've had no luck finding someone who sees chickens here. I don't know what to do and everyday I'm afraid to walk in the door because I feel like she is going to die!!

I meant to add: I've read a thread on here about a polish with similar symptoms and eventually the owner found a tick on their girl. I've searched her several times hoping it will be that easy and no luck! No mites, no lice either. She was so happy and chirping so sweetly before all this :( her vent is clear and I've not seen and signs or bruises and there are no wounds

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with a sick girl right now.
If she isn't eating and drinking you might want to consider tube feeding her to get some nutrition into her.
3 weeks is a pretty long time for a chicken to not be doing well, I hope she pulls through.
Good luck! :hugs

Here we go again :/
I've got a buff lace polish rooster. He just started to "crow" and oh it makes me giggle! Then I have a mama hen who is watching over a buff Orpington chick and a gold laced polish, all is well there. Finally I have another gold lace polish, who has its v-comb coming in but no wattles and it's crest really looks like a roo. It's been perky but now it's walking around with droopy wings and I just saw it laying down in the sun with its neck stretched out... basically I'm freaking out because Giget the hen who recently died started off this way. I put a fan in the coop and did the frozen treat block. Always fresh water and feed. What's really ironic is Giget and Figet (the two gold laced) were good strong chicks and Flossy aka Cheif (the buff roo) was a weak n almost died as a chick. I wonder if the fact the gold laced are so dark they are struggling with the heat? There's a creek right next to the chicken coop and shade available but still decided to lay in the sun :/ I got these fellas off of a show breeder that's local. Anyways I'm dying inside over Giget and now Figet. Any ideas??

Also I wonder if polish get depressed? Figets crest is really coming in all over the place! Maybe sad it can see well?? Flossy aka Cheif is crazy regardless, he runs around and bosses everyone in with him. Could Figet be a roo and getting picked on? They are both the same age, roughly 11 weeks.

I finally broke down and told the breeder I had to bury one chicken and now another one is acting wonky. She told me it may be Mareks >.<!!! I've been looking into it heavily and found a good article on here and I'm seriously thinking its botulism. But since it's only happening to my polish I'm concerned. I did a quick search on polish and I ready they get water on the brain. Any info or help/ direction on either of these would be greatly appreciated!
