This is probably a stupid question, but is it OK for my chickens to be eating fire ants? I have them out in the yard right now and they're tearing up all the ant nests in the yard. I've chased them off of them a few times but they're persistent! At first I thought they were just trying to scratch in the dirt but nope, they're eating the ants! I didn't think ants would taste very good but what do I know... I just didn't want them to be getting into something they shouldn't!

Thanks in Advance

Chickens are omnivores and will catch and eat all kinds of things: worms, ants, spiders, mice, frogs, small snakes. Mine even eat a little sparrow once. It is their natural behavior and good protein. Nom nom.
