Eating Duck Eggs for breakfast-First time Eating Them!!!

That makes sense--I have friends who don't eat them because they make them nauseous, which isn't strictly an allergy, I guess. It's a whole family--one of them gets severely sick and throws up; the other three just get slightly queasy.

I am going to have to totally agree that the "aftertaste" has to do with the protein, thanks for confirming my gut feeling on that.

I find that eating my chicken eggs make me feel really full afterward. I think this is the high protein content which is better than carbs at making you feel full (hence the Atkins diet). In this way, eggs are an excellent diet food as you don't have to eat much to feel satisfied!

I have yet to experience duck eggs as mine are still babies, but cannot wait!

Wow..18 weeks and they have begun to lay. Congratulations. Are they on layer feed with 3%+- calcium, or still on grower feed? I have a bunch of 17 week olds.. can't wait for eggs, though I was thinking 22 or so weeks they would begin.

they are on a 50/50 mix of layer feed and scratch. the layer is 20% protein, not sure on calcium, but we offer oyster shell

I WILL NEVER EAT DUCK EGGS! But thats just me. Unlike Chickens, I feel Ducks should be raised for love and companionship and not baby eting. lol. I guess for me it's fully psychological.

I CAN'T WAIT TO EAT DUCK EGGS!!! I am allergic to chicken eggs. You are not eating any babies if you do not have a drake. Ducks and their egg production is not any different than chickens. If you have a rooster with your hens then you are taking just as much of a chance of eating a baby chick.

I am starting mine on their oyster shell and Layena pellets this weekend!!!

They are 17 1/2 weeks now. I can't wait to be able to sit down to a bacon and egg breakfast again!!

Duck and chicken eggs do not contain babies unless they are incubated. There is no baby eating involved.

like i said. im sure its psychological. i even hesitate to throw out eggs that arent fully developed when i candle them. i do toss them, but i hesitate. lol

Eh! I was starting to get over my irrational "thing" about eating duck eggs and actually getting excited that I'll be eating out of my yard and now I read about this after taste and too full feeling

My boy just got a drake feather and my girls are flattening themselves out on the water so I'm guessing it won't be long. I have to stay away from here until I eat some of these eggs already. LOL
