Ok so this is totally a newbie question and probably one you all laugh at...BUT

Is it okay to eat the first egg ever laid by a chicken? I mean I am sure it is, but I was just wondering if there was any sort of difference between the first egg ever laid and subsequent eggs...

These chickens are only about 4 - 5 months old and we just got 2 eggs on Wednesday and 1 egg on Thursday, they are sort of small, so I assume that is because the hens are young and these are the first eggs...will they get any bigger?

Thanks for humoring me

Boil it, scramble it, or bake with it. It's all good. Congrats on your first eggs

We've eaten the first eggs laid by our hens and never noticed a difference other than size. And yes they will get bigger. Ours got A LOT bigger.

Thanks! About how long does it take for the eggs to get bigger...the more they lay, the bigger they get...to a point...just curious if it has to do with age of the hen or how many eggs they lay?
