Eating Potbelly pigs?

Yes! I raise them for meat. They're cheaper, safer for older people like myself, to have, and they eat anything and everything. I have several wooded acres and they free range and rut everything. They will come running for treats and scraps and at butcher time I call my sons and older grandkids to come over and round them up.

renders great lard and we toss leftover fat to the chickens....you won't get bacon but you will get tasty meat.

Good Gosh, of course they are edible....do you think they were raised by the Vietnamese as pets ? I doubt it.

There were any number of Veitnamese relocated to Merced, CA after the war. What I remember is the look of consternation on their faces as they watched potbellied pigs being paraded in pink velveteen collars and leashes at the county fair.

I admit that I don't eat meat, so I can't vouche for the taste personally, HOWEVER, my neighbors raise pot bellied pigs for the same purpose and are extremely fond of the taste. They will grow just like normal pig breeds if you feed them the proper pig feed. If you feed them human food though and do not allow them to exercise they will become too fatty too quick.

Many Asian countries use pot bellies as their main source of pork, so it must be alright!

"disgusting" is merely a mindset. we often label what other countries and cultures eat as "disgusting' because we were not raised in such way's. They too may find what we do as "disgusting". More likely they probably view us as "ridiculous"..for saying such thing's like...."eating a pig of any sort would be "disgusting" when all are not only forms of meat, but meat we are meant to eat. I have a pot belly pig. and two feeders. I for one plan on eating em all as pig's for pet's has proven to be a mistake.
