EATING RAW EGGS

even if you think your flock is healthy, they can have a disease that you could get.
I think we're not talking about chickens having diseases, but more about food safety. You can get food poisoning like e-coli or salmonella due to dirt on outside of eggs. It's a good idea to wash eggs thoroughly before cracking, and wash hands after handling them. Even if you are cooking them.

I think its a risk to consume raw egg. You could get salmonella poisoning. But then again, my in laws being older Russians always ate raw eggs back in the days. They're fine and still here.

....... I love eating raw cookie dough that uses raw eggs... Lol. Never gotten sick (yet). Just be aware that you can get food poisoning if you happen across something funky. I don't like raw eggs personally. Waaaay too slimy and gross.

I use raw eggs regularly in home-made mayonnaise (I add lemon but no vinegar).
On occasion I'll also break an egg or few into a glass and drink that raw, yummy!

Washing the egg before cracking it is good advice, though TBH I usually don't bother.

Perhaps this is a cultural thing too; on this side of the pond we're generally more relaxed about such things than you are stateside. :)

In my opinion - and it's just that, an opinion - I'd feel safer consuming raw eggs from my flock than store bought eggs. I know the living conditions of my chickens and it's a whole lot healthier than those of the large egg producers.

I eat my own eggs raw you might say as I use raw eggs in many of my home made ice cream recipes. The eggs are clean and I always wash hands when handling food.
The very few people that got sick from eating raw eggs .. got sick from contaminated eggs that were put out by huge, factory production facilities. Caged hens and eggs rolling through poop. Dirty facilities due to the hundreds of thousands of eggs run through it and caged birds on site. Just nasty, dirty places. Eggs from happy birds and clean nests are not an issue. Not only do I eat raw eggs, I also go to a farm and pick up raw milk to drink.
