Have to flip duck/chick over & press down & out on the sides of the vent to expose the genitalia. You end up looking at a little "donut" on the girls & a "mountain peak" on the boys. If there's nothing sticking up in the middle of the "donut", it's a girl. Takes some wiggling sometimes when the chick/duck is not being cooperative. Once they are old enuf to sex by quack on ducks or by comb & hackles on chicks there's no point trying to vent sex cuz they are too hard to hold upside down to see anyway.

I watched people do it all weekend on birds up to a couple months old.
