eBay/PayPal Mess -- Need Advice- Update

If it was me I would refund her money and sell it to the next bidder.

Contact PayPal tell them this is a big pain you want to refund her money and since she opened these disputes it can settled with the refund.
If she refuses the refund too bad.
Be ready for her to leave negative feedback on ebay, but you can reply to that under it. People do read what you say.

Refund her money and sell it to someone in the US where you can insure it and be covered. Otherwise, it's VERY easy for her to end up with your figurine and her money, too. This is a no win situation, especially with a high dollar item.

Im in the "refund the money" camp also. You're in a bad spot with her already filing a claim. Theres nothing to prevent her from claiming it never arrived and receiving her money back. Seems she's already stated her intentions. Refund her money, and sell to the next person, with insurance, and delivery confirmation. Also take a picture of the item next to something current, such as a newspaper, to show its condition before you mail it.

I agree with the last four posts

If she gives you a bad feedback, and it's your first, Don't worry about that. One bad review out of hundreds of positive feedback would make us think, boy, that person really wants to bad mouth ya. Go ahead and sell it and the next line, it will have the positive feedback for the same thing and we, as buyers, would KNOW.

Can't you "respond" to bad feedback? If you had a line stating "buyer opened a claim against me before item was even shipped - refunded to protect self" I would consider that a good enough explanation for me.

Talk to pay pal and get their advice. If you do decide to send it, insure for the full value and maybe take it somewhere to be professionally wrapped and sent. Then you would have a witness and it wouldn't be just your word. Hummels are highly collectable, so I am not surprised that bidding went that high. You might want to get it appraised before sending it anywhere and insure for either the amount that you sold it at or the appraised value.

In the event that she does leave negative feedback... I don't know about others, but I look at negative feedbacks to see if it looks like a legitimate complaint (I keep in mind that some people just can't be pleased). Next I look for the sellers response. Did they lash out or handle it politely and courteously? If they put something like 'loser, I told you that there would be a delay', I don't want to deal with them. So make sure that any reply that you leave is polite.

Sending a tracking number to her doesn't mean anything. I 'won' a bid on a chainsaw that DH liked. The 'seller' sent me a tracking number that kept coming up as invalid, though with USPS that isn't uncommon (I have sent packages with a tracking number and had it show invalid number). The 'seller' claimed he shipped the item right away, but didn't send a tracking number for a week. I filed a claim with paypal, about two weeks later I got all but $25 of the money back. I left neg feedback and about three other people did at the same time, all on chainsaws that were listed as 'selling for a friend who has gone out of business'.

Thanks, everyone, for your advice and input. I would like to refund her money but I no longer have it to refund. PayPal is holding it. I would have to refund her out of my own pocket which I am not in a position to do, nor would I want to tie up my money for who knows how long. As it is, if I sent her the figurine, the postage would have to come out of my own pocket which is about $75. She was the one who put the hold on the funds because of her impatience and lack of trust.
