I'm afraid I'm being overly anxious about eggs purchased on ebay, but I am trying to coordinate setting 2 seperate orders for my first incubation attempt! I purchased the eggs two days ago, emailed yesterday evening, and still haven't gotten any kind of communication from the seller. Is that normal and to be expected? What kind of time frame is reasonable to allow for some response? The other eggs were purchased on the same day and the seller has been very communicative. The eggs were shipped yesterday and expected to arrive today!!! The expected delivery listed for the other was tomorrow, but with no shipping info yet I'm having doubts that will happen. Which would mean they wouldn't come until Monday. So what would I do? Try a staggered hatch for my very first go at this!?!? Yikes!!! Thanks for your input!

Trying to be patient...

hi

i ended up getting shipped eggs from two different sellers, one on ebay, one i contacted through the website listed as part of her byc forum id

my eggs ended up arriving just one day apart but i started reading about how long eggs could "rest" prior to setting just in case, what i found read is that they can be fine up to seven days after hatching.

here's my posting with a link to another thread with information

Thanks for that. My concern is not knowing how long my 1st order (that has now arrived!!

) was collected before shipping to me. Maybe I'll email that seller and ask. I don't want to risk those eggs for the sake of the others! I should also add that I paid for the auction immediately after winning. Any input from y'all experienced ebay sellers out there????????

Thanks!

For something like hatching eggs that really depend on timing, I'd expect communication within 24 hours. Especially if I had paid as soon as the auction ended. If I was selling eggs on eBay I'd make contact with the buyer as soon as possible. Is there any chance they have shipped them already but just haven't emailed to tell you yet? Did you know you can request contact details for the seller from eBay? Then you could give them a call and ask them what's been going on...

Thanks! I'm so glad to know I'm not just being crazy-overly-impatient-newbie here! I just sent a second and still very nice email a bit ago so I'm hoping maybe I'll hear back soon. I explained in both emails that I was trying to coordinate setting the eggs along with another batch so I would think they would understand. I'll try the contact info bit if I don't get an email by the end of the day. I'm hoping they were sent and they just haven't gotten me the shipping info.

I know it's odd, but different sellers are all different. Some of the best things I've bought come from non-communicative sellers, and the best comm's sometimes sell me the worst products.

So my most recent situation - bought 3 batches of fertile eggs off Ebay - 3 different sellers - all handled it differently with timing and packing and communicating, but I ended up with all intact eggs (none broken) and they are all growing in a fantastic way so far. Very impressed with my Ebay purchases as this is my first time. Hatch 1 week away.

Also - Sometimes they have to wait on the hens to lay more - so they could wait a few days to get a certain number. I think they are good for 10 days though (if stored properly while awaiting the rest to be laid).

I know this is kind of an obvious question, so don't smack me...but I'm assuming the eggs weren't a "Pre sale"? I've seen those on Ebay often, and they don't ship until sometimes months later.

I always email the sellers first before I bid. If I don't receive a response from them before the end of the auction, I don't bid.

Otherwise, I'd contact them and just let them know you are getting anxious and would like some contact from them ASAP. I always try polite email first, then slightly less polite for each following unanswered email.

I think egg sellers should ship out the day after the eggs are paid for, at the latest. They should also tell you they shipped and give you a tracking number at that time. The eggs are supposed to be fresh, and by the time they ship and get to where they are going, the eggs are already 4 - 5 days old, and you still need to allow them to set for a while. If the seller fiddles around and doesn't ship for several days, it also messes up the buyers plans to set several different groups of eggs at the same time. Very poor customer service, IMO. Of course, you never know if the seller had an emergency, an accident, etc.... hopefully that is not the case.

That said, I do not think you are being overly anxious or weird in the least. I hope the eggs just show up out of the blue tomorrow. Usually that's what happens.

Haha - no smacking necessary. I wouldn't put it past myself to do something like that! But no. The listing said that shipping would happen asap after receiving payment and the listed estimated delivery range was March 19 - 21. I've sent 2 nice emails and explained why I was anxious but still no communication at all! I'm afraid if they haven't already shipped (Arizona to NC) then there's no way it will get here on Monday. I hope I'm wrong! Who knows - maybe it will show up tomorrow. But I'm kinda doubting that now. BTW, the sellers feedback was 100% so I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt but my nerves are getting to me! I'd be anxious enough about my 1st go at hatching without this to stress me out!!!
