I'm in Murphysboro IL and in the 100% of totality (I think!). I am wondering what affect it will have on the chickens. I imagine they'll go in and roost and then come out a few minutes later thinking what I usually do, "gosh the night went fast". Think it will affect their behavior or laying?

I'm in Troy, IL and right on the edge of the "totality". I'll be working so won't get to see what my girls do.

So is Wyoming! Everything from hotels and campsites to truck traffic and normal tourist traffic in Grand Teton and Yellowstone Parks is being totally disrupted. According to the link provided by @SueT, I am about 79 miles northeast of totality. (Hmmm, I may keep that line - it kinda fits me.....) That's plenty close for me, I guess. Gonna sit on the deck and watch. We're used to that here, waiting around for acts of nature.....we're about an hour and half from Yellowstone Park and with all the fuss and kerflufffle about her "upcoming eruption" I've come to the conclusion that when it happens I'm going to grab every kind of food I'm not supposed to eat, sit on the deck with a cold beer, and watch the show. Nothing else I can do - wouldn't be able to get a way fast enough anyway. <sigh>

Well, the eclipse was cool! The chickens were under the coop cuz it was so hot. When it got completely dark, they just stayed there. As soon as it started getting light, they came out in the yard. So they didn't roost. The ducks just stayed out in the yard wondering whassup!

Some of mine made a bee line to roosting area but none actually went to roost. Those under structure like barn did not go anywhere, nor did they go to roost.
