Thank you! They have changed so much! It's so much fun watching them develop and change! Thank you for sharing what to look for.. it seems everyday there is something new with these 5.. lol As far as their demeanor goes.. they are all really pretty calm right now. The Barred tries to fly every chance it's gets and my GLW is the one that begs to be picked up and held. These two are the shy ones out of 5 I have.. however, Dixie is the one that freaks out when he/she is alone (without the other chicks) even with me and the kids! This just started this week but he/she flies and cries until I put another bird out for 'petting' time. Guess it's time to tell hubby he better have a male name on stand-by.. lolYou've got very neat-looking birds! As they're some sort of cross, I'm not an expert on gender ID. However, I can now spot Black Copper Marans within about two weeks of hatching, which is an amazing feat, as they're notoriously difficult. I would say that I suspect you are right with Dixie and Amber. I know demeanor can't be shared over the internet, but I also find, at a young age, my male birds are far more amenable to being handled and the females freak-out and want to be released immediately. Last, pau close attention to the cobs. A comb that takes forever to grow and turn red is a great signal that the bird is likely a pullet. Roos are a bit like people... we men seem to need to strut our stuff earlier and in a more flashy manner. Girls in the chicken world are more likely to develop those traits more slowly and my guess is that they will get their groove on no matter what.
