I remember that joy! My first hatch was Dougie, my duck. I spent, literally hours, watching her and talking to her. I was singing (motivational songs


) to her, she was chirping back, and then suddenly I heard a crack and saw the external pip appear. I could have passed out, I was ecstatic. Didn't expect them to hatch, so that first pip was magical. I was able to be there for her hatch, and her sister's. Long wait though.
The thing is, talking to them is one of the best things you can do, they will know your voice, and it will encourage them. A mama hen will talk to her chicks, they will talk to her once internally pipped. And they will also communicate with siblings in some ways. It's very sweet and very magical.
