dumb question, how long can the broody sit before i give her eggs? i have a friend that said theyll give me quail eggs if i want them but i wont get them until like wed/thurs?

Mine will sit for months.... She'd set forever if I let her.

Caught this sharp shinned hawk or cooper's hawk this morning. It managed to fly through the open door into my run and couldn't figure out how to get out. We drove him a few miles and released him from the top of a big hill near a lake. Hopefully, he doesn't come back! (Though he was really cool)

A neat little trick to verify your hygrometer is to place it outside in the shade. Then check your zip code on Accuweather for the relative humidity. After 20 minutes or so, check your hygrometer to see how close it is.

.I just tried that. Accuweather doesn't give the RH; at least not here. Weather.com does, though

A friend never broke her birds from being broody. She had a turkey hen that was broody so long she couldn't walk.
$3,000 of vet bills and many weeks of physical therapy, she died anyway.

My best advice is that if one isn't going to put eggs under them right away, break them immediately for the sake of the hen.

Don't worry, I break them ASAP if I have no use for them.

Once I let one set for a month total because I wanted to wait a bit before putting eggs under her, but that's it.
