Putting the rope light on the roost and covering it with carpet?

For the chicks I cover the rope with some dirt in a box. I'm thinking of putting some on the roost just under or on the edge. Was thinking for heat but it looks as if it will work for lighting for eggs in the winter as well. Experiment mostly on the roost. Last night when I checked on them they weren't on the roost. Most were on the large granite rock. I guess staying warm.

I'll try and get the light on the roost this weekend. The power is already there. They may not like it.

Good morning everyone!
Well, I threatened my birds on the roost Friday night. I said, "Whoever us eating MY eggs better stop or when I figure out who it is I am going to have chicken soup!" Did you know I have not had a single egg eaten since? :lau
