EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I rarely have an agenda for the day, just make it up as I go.
I wish I was that lucky. This week is worse than normal since I have a friend's chores after work in addition to mine for nine days :th I do get to see my sister Friday when I drive her half of the steer up to her in laws since they will be two and a half hours away instead of eight on Thanksgiving.
I hope you have family and good plans at least that day

Mornin Dan!

anyone have an old truck buried in the bushes?

Chicken tractor

I had an old trailer that was the back of a pickup truck. I wanted to move my chickens around the pasture so made the coop on top of it. I move it with my little tractor about once a week and the chicks have fresh grass and bugs to eat. I use Electronet fencing around the coop to keep them in and predators out.

lol this certainly would be a winner in the most unusual upcycled Chicken feeder!

We're moving our Rhode Island Reds out to the coop on Thanksgiving day and we still didn't have a decent feeder for them. So I told DH that he needed to design something during the football games last night!

So he designed a chicken feeder from 3 of these

and one of these

Total cost....$3 for the pan on the bottom.
My job was to make sure that all the paint was out of the buckets and from around the rims....we used cans from water-based paint only, that way I could get it out with soap and water. My hands are chapped and raw from all the scrubbing, but I got it done.

Anyway, here's what we came up with.....

It holds about 3 1/2 gallons of food, and we can always add more paint buckets onto it if we need a bigger one. We may have to design something for the top so they can't perch on it, but I suspect that it will come almost all the way up to the ceiling of the coop, so it might not be a problem. Tell me what y'all think......
