EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

This has become my project for the day. Need to finish it up. Have to add dividers, a back, and a roof. Each hole measures 15 wide, 14 high, and 18 deep. It is made out of cedar lumber we cut with our sawmill. For costing me nothing extra and made from stuff we had here I can not complain.

they don't fly at all. They grow too fast and too fat to ever fly. Shipping is generally 16 to 20 depending on location as I double box everything. They are laying but I have some khaki drakes I need to butcher yet that may be breeding my Ancona.


Darn Khakl drakes always getting in the way.

I never lend money to family or friends any more. If they need it, and I want to help and can, I make it a gift, and tell them that if they feel compelled to pay back they can, but I do not expect it and won't ask for it.

I had a good friend that I leant $300 to. I told her I didn't care when she paid me back, or if she ever paid me back. It still ended up ruining the friendship, because she avoided calling me if she hadn't given me money in a while (no matter how many times I told her I didn't care).

Money and family/friends don't mix, unless you can honestly make a gift instead of a loan, IMHO...

OMG, sweetheart, there's no need to hide! Nothing wrong with a bread machine, my mother made all our bread in one. And guess what? You can usually have it take you all the way up to the cooking stage and then put it in the over freeform to make a pretty loaf if you're feeling adventurous!

(I really need to come visit you and teach you to bake bread, sweetie. Alas, I'm afraid if I did, I'd get geese and ducks the moment I got back. I might even get... (gasp) SERAMAS!!!!!)

Oh, and guess what? My mother has also requested that we bake together when I visit - and SHE taught ME to cook!!!! I think if you haven't done it, it's intimidating. Just look at incubating!!!!!

Farmhouse Seed Bread- GF

This is my main recipe, it is best after it is a few days old. It is very high fiber and healthier than some breads, but not quite as tasty. Good sandwich bread.

(I'm going off memory here, so apologies if instructions are unclear)
1080 grams flour
1 1/2 Tbsp salt
1575 g warm water
3 Tbsp yeast
3 Tbsp sugar
1/2 c oil
3/4 c psyllium husk
1/2 c unground chia

Mix flour and salt. I use a kitchenaid mixer so the flour and salt go in the mixing bowl.

In another bowl, put yeast and sugar in water, stir, and add oil.

Grind the chia seeds and mix with psyllium husk in separate bowl. Add psyllium/chia mix to oil, yeast, and sugar. Stir.

It will be lumpy at this point, and as one kiddo succinctly put it, looks like ogre boogers. Add to flour/salt and mix on "2" with dough hook till combined.

Let rise, punch down, and put in greased loaf pans. (I think it makes around 3-4 loaves) Let rise in warm oven for a bit and cook at 350 for 60-70 min or until it looks done.
I'm totally trying this - I think I have all the bits in my pantry.

I love my bread machine, but only use it once or twice a year.

:lol: Today I caught part of Trisha Yearwood's cooking show. She was making mini cherry muffins. I have never been so eager to run to the kitchen to bake! Alas, I was short on cherries. I will have to wait.

Well, good luck with the oven! I had Buffalo chicken pizza for supper. I make sourdough pizza dough. It's fast, and turns out just as well as the regular stuff I used to do in the machine.

We will have to make some soon. Just don't laugh if something happens like the banana bread. :hide
