I found a possum in my duck coop one day-just sleeping..... Bang!!!!! Plenty of other places to sleep buddy! I'm glad you got it but I know that doesn't replace your babies

Last winter I was brooding chicks in the basement and the door didn't close well. I heard noises and found a 'possum winterizing itself on some lower shelves. I got it out before damage.
Someone, can you walk me through supportive care for injured birds, please?? I can not think in the slightest right now. I am sorry.

Keep the bird warm (80F).

If there is a wound, flush with saline solution to clean it and then you can flush with Hydrogen Peroxide if it just happened, otherwise use Betadine.
Don't use HP on anything more than a couple hours old.
Then use an eye type triple antibiotic.
How bad is it? Describe the injury.

All I can say is that I feel your pain. Lost $4,000 of birds to mink 3 years ago and again this year I lost 2 complete flocks.
I've killed 2 but I know there are more.

After you clean the wound, check to see if the leg is functional.

Are you sure it was a weasel?

I rarely see any damage on birds killed by them, just dead.

She retracted it slightly when I touched her toes.

Not sure at all. I just know it was a long tailed, brown beast with a white spot on its chest.
