EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Chrissy is doing a bit better. Washing the wounds revealed they were not quite as terrible.... She has quite a bit of swelling on her neck, so she has a hard time turning her head, but she doesn't have large chunks taken out. She does have puncture wounds tho so I'm going to make extra sure those get triple antibiotic ointment in them daily. I think what happened to her leg is the same thing that my last trio had happen to em.... Some tendon nicked, maybe. Whatever it was it healed after keeping them confined for a while.

I'm so so sorry to hear this :( so devastating.

Keep her warm, in a dimly lit area. I'd maybe have a towel for the floor of the crate or whatever she's in for good grip and comfort. Flush the wounds with warm water and some peroxide mixed in (first flush only). Wherever wounds are, dry them after the flush and coat them with neosporin. Watch and wait. Clean at least 2 times a day, always keeping either neosporin or vaseline on it for moisture and protection. Definitely add vitamins to the drinking water. Good luck and please keep us posted on her. I really hope that her leg isn't beyond repair.

Thank you :hugs

Do you have coconut oil? If you do I would put some on the wounds, it usaully helps with things like that. We used some on our pigs tail when she cut it and we didn't see it till after it was infected, worked wonders, almost completely healed 1 1/2 weeks later.

Yes, I do. Thanks, I'll try it...

Give her some electrolyte and vitamins the water.
And wash the wounds with saline.
0.9% salt
Take 9 grams of salt ant dissolved them in 1 liter of boiling water, if you have purified water its better. Leave it to cool and wash the wounds .
