Well, I was just now at the top of a 6 foot ladder banging at it with a 10 foot piece of conduit, and it wouldn't budge no matter what I did- those pieces are wedged tight. I'm going to have to go up in the attic tomorrow. (sigh)

Ok I've been studying that. Take a board just longer than the height of the top metal measured from the plate of house. Put one end of board on house frame and one end under the roofing at slight angle. Drive the bottom of the board along the house part. As you hit it it will wedge or press the metal roofing up higher and should let the other metal loose. Once it's back under the top metal remove the board letting the roof come back into place somewhat. All this hinges on the board not slipping. Also if it's that weak to stand on use a board to lay on roof to support you. Do you have a longer ladder? If not climbing in attic is only option.
Is the bottom area open that you could reach it with a longer board pressing up from the floor? Same idea driving the board like a wedge from the floor?
