I realize some people don't have many options, thanks to Walmart running everyone else out of business.
I'm a poor old person on a pension too but thankfully I have buying options around here. Then there is the online route too.
I wouldn't even think of Macy's for a heater.
The temp is up it's the humidity that bothers me, both pans and the bottom of the bator have water but the humidity sensor reads 36% but I know it's got to be higher than that because that's how I had it when the chicks hatched but when I calibrated the sensor it was only one degree off.
Smiley Toads!!!!! @casportpony - I searched the internet - the thing I saw them use is called an avian oral speculum. It very easily opened the beak and then kept it open - would be a dream to have to look for or treat wet pox (it was heck looking in their mouths this fall when everyone had dry pox), to medicate, or to tube feed as a solo person, keeping the beak open so you can feel that you can do so safely without it going down "the wrong way" if you need to or if the bird is squirmy/big. I could only find suppliers who only sold to licensed vets (verifying the info before selling to you). I called the vet I had seen today and asked if they knew how I could get one (I figured it couldn't hurt). Alas, they said that that tool had been sold to the new owner of the practice along with the rest of the equipment, and they don't know where it was bought. FINALLY, I found it on jorvet.com, which would sell to me without me needing credentials. It comes in three different sizes (or in a set of the 3 sizes). (It's actually a stainless steel surgical-type instrument). Interestingly, I think I found the patent info/drawings for it online when I was searching - from 1998, I think. I thought of your tube feeding... http://www.jorvet.com/product/avian-oral-speculum/ I couldn't find any videos showing how it works (it was very cool), but this is a photo of a cobra getting a mouth exam using one (using the large end - he used the smaller end for Monkey). You get the edge in the mouth, then rotate it to keep the mouth open and work or view through the opening in the center. You can use whatever part of it (size-wise) best fits the need, and like I said, it comes in different sizes. (I wish I had had one of these when I was treating Dumbledore - for that matter, I wish I had had it when I had my cats.) - Ant Farm

I do not buy your line of thought here, however, I am going to ask we not talk about this, I did not mention Walmart to get anyone's dander up. I just stated it because I bought it there. I am sorry I said I bought it there.
If you wish to have a discussion about the merit's of Walmart, or lack of, lets do it somewhere else. Thanks.
