That would make sense. The recipes on line call for soft ball stage. I'm thinking cooking it too hard ball would do the trick or just below hard ball.

X2. When I take my sugar on snow stuff to hardball stage before cooling it, it makes something similar to what whites described.
(I use sugar and butter instead of syrup to save money. Yeh, I know, bad Northerner, eh!)

BYC is a good motivator trying to keep up with Dax and Kristin is killing me.

Keep up with me? Who wants to especially on days like today. Up at 4:15 milk goats be at work at 5:15 work till seven, get home milk and do chores for two hours, sit for half an hour checking BYC and lighting the fire. Now it is past time to go out and feed the last bottle to my kids before I can collapse and repeat. I am so sick of my hours. It is time for a new job so I have time for something other than chores like riding. I am trying to hang on till after my vacation.
