She has her bill out and is moving and working on her shell but not unzipping, just making the pip hole bigger. I will be leaving in the morning at 7.

Could it be done with a syringe?

I would never suggest sticking anything inside of an egg. Those chicks are way behind in hatching and are not going to be able to hatch due to the high humidity. I would call this batch a loss and start over. It is a hard lesson to learn. I followed incubator directions and lost every chick the first few times around. Then I learned more about incubating and that my humidity was way to high.

I would give her till morning unless it becomes very obvious the membrane is dried and she is stuck. If no further progress by morning then I would slowly start zipping for her and see where you stand with her.

I can't find any info on this, but is there any way to drain excess fluid from an egg before hatch?

Only if you want to kill the embryo. Just on sanitation reasons alone.

YAAAAAAAAAAY! MC The malposition started zipping. And she's out! No help! She has good coloring. A few seconds later MG hatched! That's all of the magpies! I got a 100% hatch out of all the magpie eggs I set!

(Now I wait for the anconas..)
