EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I can't find any info on this, but is there any way to drain excess fluid from an egg before hatch?
no.

In other words, if I get up and she isn't zipping, I won't be able to help. I'll have to leave.D-:

Get up earlier

YAAAAAAAAAAY! MC The malposition started zipping. And she's out! No help! She has good coloring. A few seconds later MG hatched! That's all of the magpies! I got a 100% hatch out of all the magpie eggs I set! :celebrate (Now I wait for the anconas..)
awesome!

I would sit the eggs fat end up in an egg carton, that way hopefully the beak will stay above the fluid keel if they pip.
There is not really any way to drain excess fluid from the egg.
I think everyone messes up their first hatch, and then get better.

I bought a 6x10 utility trailer (with wood floor) for $200 off -.

6'x10' is a handy size; probably what I'd have gotten had I not been needing to haul two commercial mowers at a time, which wouldn't fit in 10'. You should be well satisfied with it, but I have one word of advice: if the front & sides are open, which they probably are, fasten a solid board of some type (I use thin plywood siding) across the inside of the front angle to keep lumber from sliding off the stack & ending up halfway under the tow vehicle before you get home (don't ask how I know this; just take my word for it)
They found the title so I went back out there to get it. Sort of ate up the day. I stopped for some lumber on the way home, and all was going well, but I was tired and hungry, so I managed to bash the trailer into a stone pillar in my driveway. Knocked down the pillar, but the trailer just has a cracked light. Lesson: Never try to back a trailer into a narrow driveway for the first time in a decade if you are tired, hungry, and grumpy.

But I'm so glad I have the trailer - I'm getting more lumber in the morning (someone had cleaned out the Home Depot of 2x4x8 studs, so I need to head to Lowes tomorrow). Eating some dinner and taking a break before heading out and doing some more sanding under work lights as long as I can. Gotta get that building done...

Yeah, the reason I don't help is that I usually am tempted to help those who don't need it (in which case I could have caused harm), or I end up with a chick that needs to be culled (which is sad). So I do my best to see if they can do it themselves...

My incubator is full!!!!

The air cells on all but one of the shipped are good. The one has a floating cell is about the size of a dime.
That's awesome! Sounds like you got very fresh eggs!!!
