EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

So the quail chick egg that my nephew cracked open has internally pipped but I can see blood

has it pipped through a vein? It's not finished absorbing the yolk as it's beak is opening and closing

Thank you. I have another chick that has broken a hole and is peeping occasionally. Am I risking his safety by getting the other out?

Not unless you're opening and closing the bator multiple times. If you throw a warm, wet paper towel in to boost the humidity after it should be fine....

That is, unless you would prefer to have nature take its course?

... - didn't mean to rub it in. These are my first apple trees, so I'm excited.

No problem. This is Missouri and to be expected but it gets worse every year. Winters that never happen and then hard spring freezes.
Climate change is killing me.

I guess I need advice again. My Welsummer egg that pipped 28-30 hours ago, in the middle of the shell, has not changed. During the day yesterday it was rocking a bit, but I don't see movement today. It never actually broke through the shell, so it has never peeped. Does this mean it's still ok to leave alone? There's just a small, rounded crack. Thanks for advice...
Hard to say but when I have very late hatchers, they usually don't make it.

It is day 31 by the way
What kind of duck?

Yes.

I would rather save them all! My kids are on them like hawks! You know, that doesn't too good...I mean it's spring break and their eyes are glued to these eggs. Their mama chickens' first hatch.

Saving all of a hatch is not very realistic. Use the event to explain life and death in nature and whatever your religious beliefs are.

If you want a place Climate change is not happening and winters still are, move north a couple states... I pray for and help climate change at every trun and it does not happen
