EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Morning everyone.

morning.
oh I gotcha out of freezer only 24 doh!

The advantage to having had a baby in the nicu - is I learned a lot about the proper storage and use, of pumped milk... and it applies to goats milk. surprisingly enough. I got to experiment a lot with my own milk and learned the best way to store it, keep it clean, freeze it, thaw it, etc.

Now I can use that knowledge on non-human milk.

what's funny, is i'm squicked out by drinking milk in general. I can handle using it to cook, but drinking it raw, in a cup, I got an aversion to milk somewhere in my early 20's... unless it involves cookies.

Quote: as far as the worms, I so feel for you, errrr ummmm not quite the right words in this discussion lmao!! anyways yes diet does I have read and so does keeping it cool as soon as it comes out of the goat. Some use ice bucket with a bucket in it or a ice brick right in the bucket with milk.
An ice brick would have to dilute the milk if it weren't in a watertight bag, wouldn't it?
yes of course, but a simple ziplock of ice would work if it stays closed
You obviously don't live here! For some reason, DW seldom reseals a bag; even one with the slide thingamabob! Drives me up the wall

he's gorgeous, and you can see his keen intelligence in his face. He's definitely a smartie pants.

None of the eggs in my incubator are developing. :( Not a single one out of the 2 dozen. So, I'm giving them until the new silkie eggs get here, and trading them out.
Come oooooooon eggs!

Morning Abi. Hope you did ok in the storms. No rain here yet. Supposed to start last night.

I honestly was terrified. The dog has developed a fear of storms, but he was in bed with me (I guess he felt the storm coming) so he stayed calm. It is a powerful thing to have a mutt trust me that much. He was my husband's dog, but he has always demanded me when he was afraid or hurt.
How are you?
