EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I went back and clarified. I was only trying to ask about the impact of X-rays and if it was believed to impact the blastoderm. The point of the rest, was try to avoid questions on: what humidity do you use? Are they packed well? Etc.

I did read the article provided. Though it's fruit flies, it makes sense still. I would love to get some xrayed and compare with a control. I don't believe it will make much difference.

Thanks
Thanks for clarifying, I must have quoted too early to catch it. I just took a guess on what you were asking.
The rest of the stuff was very helpful too, thank you. :thumbsup.

But this seemed like a thread with possibly a more scientific slant. I figured you all would be more in tune. Thanks for your help.

If Sally were online, she'd probably be able to help more. I could have sworn we had more stuff on this in the notes, but I can't find it now---sorry.

I was told that this current order of eggs may have been x-rayed and therefore would have no bullseye. This makes no sense to me. Certainly I can understand it being the cause of a quitter, but it would not reverse the bullseye stage that indicates this is a fertilized egg.

To clarify : Does X-ray reverse this blastoderm phase?

NO!!

do ya'll have any ideas for a ruptured yolk sac? Hes doing well now, hes drinking the water and vitamins, the area where the yolk sac is, is pretty nasty. Should I clean it up? Or leave it?
