But does it really even matter if they are boys or girls...
Are the boys that much bigger then the girls?

You do eat both sexes right?

They are tasty. Roasted or smoked. so juicy and flavorful....The only thing wrong with them is they are so friendly and trusting.


I wish meat birds would be jerks so it was all easier to do.

They could be jerky.

Super nachos and breakfast tacos today. Lots of cooking on the stove. And my a c is once again not working in the kitchen! it was already 80.5 when I got in at 7 this morning. By the time I turn on ovens and stove I am going to be melting! Coffee break over. Gotta go in and roast myself some more. why can't anything ever just work like it's supposed to!

Ohhhh! I remember when my dh put a fan in the kitchen of my other house! I could bake and cook all day!!!

I have not eaten a hen yet. I have only had a few of the boys at this point, BUT I am getting enough that I hope it is all changing..

The reason I asked you to define early is because you can tell earlier than some breeds, but that is because of the size difference in the boys and girls. The legs on the boys are massive.


And the huge combs on the males start to grow large at a couple weeks of age. The boys will eat more than the girls before stopping also.

These that are hatching today are going to there new home in the next couple days, they are sold already.

I will be putting new eggs into the incubator soon.....today or tomorrow if I can get them double washed, disinfected and the incubator sterilized after I get the hatching trays sterilized. I had a leaky egg and it require extremely careful handling of the tray and the egg glued to it. Which means everything needs to be cleaned to my satisfaction again.

When I worked at the barn...someone forgot to lock the door that faces the road and repairmen walked right into the barn...protocol required showering in, clean unexposed clothes on the barn side...disinfecting the tools....

Last December I had one of those temporary, seasonal, amazon delivery people open my 5ft gate that says 'Beware of Dogs'. The dummy then proceeded to walk onto my property, leaving the gate open, walking thru a handful of chickens & a duck. Didn't come to the front door, but walked thru the yard, up very obviously broken stairs, heading for my sliding glass door. The pugs were all sleeping & didn't hear her, but Mako (Super Duck) was screaming her head off, so I looked out the slider & caught this woman half way up the broken stairs... I didn't need a weapon... My mouth is lethal enough to get me arrested. I know I scared the cr*p outta her. She bolted down the stairs, turned to look at me & held out the box. Among many other things I told her to leave it at the gate where it belonged. That was months ago & I still cant imagine what she coulda been thinking.
