My blue Icelandic rooster was last seen Wednesday morning. I saw him outside in the morning before I had opened the coop. Deb said he was in the buck barn Tuesday evening when she did goat chores. Looked for him Wednesday night, wasn't in coop, buck barn or doe barn. Looed around the back pasture, no feathers, blood, or body found. He's just gone. :barnie
Good looking guy, too. I'll expect to see him on milk cartons soon. Sure hope he turns up.

She was the first and only bird I have lost to those symptoms. Everyone has Marek's in their flock, it's only a matter of if it expresses or not. I have under 35 fowl total right now, and 2 coops totaling 192 square feet of space. I think I have enough room. :p

It could have been Botulism too from something she noshed on in the woods. No way to tell now, she's been dead and decomposing since last September. Symptoms were leg paralysis and lethargy that started with a limp on the far side. Vitamins did not help.
I know that, the expression of the MDV is the problem it is an obvious sign of a problem in the immune system function and hige levels of stress.

It happened when I was transitioning them to the goat shed from their old coop, so yes, there were high levels of stress in the flock.

Day 14! Do the air cell look ok? All 5 are developing well, and the others were unfertile. I cracked them open to check, but I was 100% positive there wasn’t anything inside.

ETA: the lower line is for day 14.
The upper one was from day 7.

Stupid people!
I have the good fortune of being able to fall into a bucket of "sheet" and come out smelling like a bouquet of roses...maybe.
Just talked, via email, to the guy who missed out on my roosters this morning. He says he's always looking for roosters, and gave me his email address & phone #.
