EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

He's gorgeous! I feel you on nursing issues, but it's great you're doing what you can to improve them. I'm so glad to hear everything is okay!

I've never had supply issues - and luckily, I make enough for him right now - but I can tell it's effecting me, if I normally can pump like 5-8oz in the morning, I'm lucky to get 1-3oz. His inability to stimulate me is really killing my supply over here, and I was someone who could nurse my babies and pump 5-10oz off the other side. The nicu didn't let me nurse for the first 18ish hours or so (it was closer to 24.) so that didn't help get my milk in, or my supply up properly either and I didn't respond to the pump until about 2-3 days ago. My milk came in on like tues or wed of last week, so it's been in, for a week now, but I'm having to build it up for him to make sure until his ability to nurse correctly is fixed, I have an over supply for him that he's not responsible for building.

Having pumped for a micro preemie has given me some tips and tricks, but man - it hurts less to pump, then when he chomps on me :( I'm only pumping 3-4x a day right now at random times just to stimulate and try to make sure I keep my milk supply stimulated until his mouth is fixed, it's irritating. I was hoping to skip pumping this time. After pumping with the last 3 kids, including for a preemie, and donating milk for a year to a mom, i'm just over it.

I just opened my new free incubator..
Interesting because of using little Giants in the past.
I have it warming up as we speak.

Dang, I couldn't even handle pumping for the last two weeks I was breastfeeding Honeybee, much less do it as long as you have. We ended up having to stop after a month, my supply was basically nonexistent after I got an infection from severe cracking on my breast. But he's healthy, fed, and happy so I'm happy. Hopefully with the next baby it's better!

Hey!!! I gave birth at 37 weeks - I'd spent a month on and off in the hospital prior to his birth for preterm labor/early dilation... and when my water broke he was born in less then 90 minutes! So good thing I was in the hospital already, or we would have delivered him ourselves!

He's definitely a keeper :)

We dealt with a 48 hour nicu stay, because I drowned him in amniotic fluid, he inhaled it after he was born, I gushed it into his face on accident... but his lungs dried out quickly, and then we had to deal with jaundice, which was a close call, but he finally started having his #'s on that drop for his bilirubin, his pediatrician was following him pretty close.

We will be 2 weeks old on saturday!

My youngest is absolutely enamored of him, and he's totally "her" baby btw! lol

He had his tongue tie clipped, it's pretty bad, so we have to redo it a second time, the dentist could barely get into his mouth to snip part of it and we had to wait a couple weeks until it healed and his mouth got bigger to get the rest of it.

So, nursing isn't fun right now, but i'm powering through until we fix it.

Congratulations! He's precious!

I feel you. As long as baby is fed that's waht matters. I'm just upset because making milk has always been something that came easily to me before this one.

Hey y’all. :frow Anyone here still an expert on leg issues in chicks? I got a bunch from a breeder and she gave me five gimpy ones for free. I don’t really want to clog up the emergencies thread. I read a podiatry link or two, but I’m not confident enough in diagnosing. I gave them all a drop of poly-vi-sol.
