EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Thank you so much. I will purchase some tomorrow and do the deed, unless a miracle happens. I gave here straight B vitamins a couple of minutes ago, but I think it is too late.

Unfortunately, we got 6” of snow tonight, so I’m not sure how early I will be able to head out. But the poor thing shrieking is breaking my heart.
So sorry. Hopefully the poor thing improves overnight.

Hey guys, my little chick is continuing to go downhill. I’m pretty sure I have to euthanize her, but I don’t know how.

It is shrieking so much and doesn’t seem to be able to eat.

Is there any way that is quick for it, but less traumatic for me?

The quickest way is a good pair of poultry sheers and cut it's head off quickly, over a garbage bag or dig a hole and bury it. Not sure any method would be less traumatic for you.

Part of the reason I mentioned a friend do it. There isn’t a less traumatic way of doing it. My way is very similar to what you first described. Whenever my neighbor needs the deformed chicks taken care of she calls me. Still doesn’t make it easy.
I don’t try to heal anymore they always grow up deformed and die at early age.

I don't mess around with problem chicks very often.

Thanks for this. I wasn’t sure since she seems a little better today. But I do feel it would be kinder to us all if she was euthanized. She was shrieking so much Kasky night I didn’t get much sleep. And the chicks are on the opposite side of a decent sized house.
