EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Hi Benny.. I have a question for the educated rhino.
We have these weeds overtaking our property. I wouldn't mind them at all because of owning a goat heard but couldn't figure out why the goats were not eating vegetation in certain areas. Until last night. We were out at dusk trapping escaped chickens who were bunking down in a patch of these weeds. When we went into the thick patch, we thought we were being attacked by fire ants. A cross between fire ants fiberglass itchy burning sensation. Then slowly became more and more painful. we ran over into the lighted area looking for traces of fire ants thinking we stepped in a mound.
It was the weeds! They have hundreds of micro angel hair needles and they inject some kind of toxin. I googled it but I can only find the stinging nettle plant. All of photos I have found on the net and nothing looks like these. We got our mower deck repaired so were going to butcher them down now. These are my pics. It is windy today so my subjects were moving. Hard to get a clear pic.View attachment 1354781 View attachment 1354791
the shorter younger ones don't have the stingers as much. It's when the weed matures is when the stingers manifest.View attachment 1354794
Is this a Florida native plant or weed? Or an invasive species? It seems to be spreading out. We have lived here for years. First year that we have ever been stung by our lawn and pastures.
Could be what we call "Itch weed". Get into a patch of it with bare skin & it'll tear you up. Fortunately, there's another plant, that usually grows near it, that takes the itch away when rubbed on the skin. Sorry I don't have more details...I've never gotten into it with bare skin exposed...you can probably track it down on the net, or someone here will know about it. I'll text my fishing buddy; he knows the details

Thanks.. Everything I googled and youtube shows stinging nettles that look different. But I have been key wording "Fl stinging plants". I just posted the question over on Rob's garden site in the plant identification forum. Finally got the mower deck repaired but don't have a drop of fuel:rant. Can't win for losing. Going later to get gas. Have to finish my chores.

Great hatch! Come on chickie :jumpy
All 30 hatched! But one was piled upon and doa first thing this morning. So I guess it counts as 100%. Not too sure the cause. It was one of the biggest java's in the batch. It was having roll over balancing probs though. I kept dipping it's beak into the save a chick water on and off. It appeared to be getting stronger. But I think it was trampled during an over night plop on it's back. So 29 of the other rascals are running around like rats! I have another hatch here very shortly. Candled a couple days ago for the last time. I'll have all these dropped of at the store before then. My brooder room is nerve racking loud right now.
We recently purchased analog ovens by Farm Innovators. I'm pleased with the results. The first one had a switch go out in just only 29 days but at least we replaced it under store warranty time.
My LG 9300's are up and running as well. I wish they were analog though. LG finally figured out how to get an order correct and sent the parts we asked for. Oh well. We ordered an additional controller, heater and sensor as well. We are making a homemade oven real soon. Also have a computer fan that matches the plug on the controller. That should be interesting.
I hope your doe heals fast. Have you thought about completely wrapping it up with sports tape?
I hope things work out well.

Congrats on your 100% hatch, sorry about the one that didn't make it.
My eggs are in lockdown now, hens are due to hatch tomorrow and incubator eggs should hatch Thursday. Just waiting now....

As much as I want to help, it is very difficult for me to identify without a proper pic of the plant AND the flowers ( and if you have pic of the fruit it is better! )
