EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

My main concern was the copper sulfate cuz everyone seems to talk about using that for treatment and for foot baths to help prevent issues. I threw the Wonder dust and at the end because it's used for proud flesh, sealing, and as a drying agent so I thought it would be a good choice.
Certainly can't hurt.

Eumorpha pandorus, from the Sphingidae family. They are pretty cool dudes! We call them camo moths! haha.

Incubation question! What do you do or what causes air cells to be all different sizes?!? I've got big ones, small ones, medium ones and lopsided ones! All are in the same incubator and get rotated in positioning. All are around the same age (+/-2 days). Yeesh! :D
One of the important things the the S/V ratio. (Surface to Volume ratio)
In large eggs it is small and in little eggs it is big. This ratio is the main factor that influence the humidity lose and the external temp influences on the egg. Big S/V (small egg) = bigger humidity lose and more rapid temp fluctuation in the egg and vise versa.
Another thing is that brown eggs especially Marans they are less porous so the looks less humidity.

Shalom and Boker or to you dear Dax.
Yes, I am trying my best .
And how are you?
Trying to survive bottle kids and milking lol.
Other than that I am well. I finally decided to sell a bunch of things and so if they will just go ahead and sell that will make my life simpler.
It is a beautiful 69 degrees and sunny here today I am loving it.
I could have used your help last night I just gave up and made a mixing wasn't sure trying to figure out how much copper sulfate to half a gallon of water would be 20%. If I had a gram scale or something that might be simpler.

You need 20%? It is very simple you need to take the 1/2 gallon of water and put it on the scale and measure its whigt in ounces (in gram is better ! ) then you take the whigt and divide it to 5.
Then you take 4/5 of the whigt in water and 1/5 of the whigt in Cupper sulfat .
Let say that 1/2 of gallon is 200 ounces .
200/5=40 ounces
You take 4×40 ounces of water
And 1×40 ounces of Cupper sulfat powder
After mixing you will get 1/2 gallon of 20% Cupper sulfat .

As soon as you said that I realize how simple that was duh 20% course you have to have good scales.

Hi Benny.. I have a question for the educated rhino.
We have these weeds overtaking our property. I wouldn't mind them at all because of owning a goat heard but couldn't figure out why the goats were not eating vegetation in certain areas. Until last night. We were out at dusk trapping escaped chickens who were bunking down in a patch of these weeds. When we went into the thick patch, we thought we were being attacked by fire ants. A cross between fire ants fiberglass itchy burning sensation. Then slowly became more and more painful. we ran over into the lighted area looking for traces of fire ants thinking we stepped in a mound.
It was the weeds! They have hundreds of micro angel hair needles and they inject some kind of toxin. I googled it but I can only find the stinging nettle plant. All of photos I have found on the net and nothing looks like these. We got our mower deck repaired so were going to butcher them down now. These are my pics. It is windy today so my subjects were moving. Hard to get a clear pic.

the shorter younger ones don't have the stingers as much. It's when the weed matures is when the stingers manifest.

Is this a Florida native plant or weed? Or an invasive species? It seems to be spreading out. We have lived here for years. First year that we have ever been stung by our lawn and pastures.
