EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Hi everyone, I am hatching some eggs and only on day 2. I have a hard time keeping the humidity lower than 60%. Is 60% OK for the first 18 days of incubation? Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated!

I don't think you'll her from here soon. She hasn't been getting much sleep, she has one littler of pups that is three weeks old, and another litter due in about a week. She's down to one old hen and gooserz, and just a few goats. She's trying to get everything she can done as she has surgery June 13th with a two day hospital stay then a week of bed rest at home. Maybe she'll get to BYC then?

Always struggling, no rest .......

Just saw something I haven't seen here in 43 years; a black squirrel. There's a fair-sized population of them in Frederick, near Ft. Detrick, and others scattered around the general area, but nowhere near as many as the common gray squirrel.

According to Wikipedia, they're a melanistic color phase of both the gray and fox, and fairly rare; rare enough that in all my years of stomping around in the woods I've never seen a fox squirrel, although I know they're not far away.

fox squirrel
We have Fox Squirrels S.W. of here in Citrus county- big as cats. They are something exciting to see. Kind of funny how they are so geographically separated from the run of the mill tree rats we have here in Marion county.
Been POURING rain since sunrise. Hard to accomplish anything this morning. Except getting wet successfully.
