EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I now have two. Course one is the neighbors, got to remember to get it back to her.
I have two also. I have the small and the extra small. They brood 20 and 15 chicks respectively.
If I have to brood more chicks than that, I'll pull one of the big Ohio brooders down from the loft.
I was looking at GQF brooders and I was thinking about making something like that.

The quail are here (18). There was about half an hour last evening of “I’m gonna kill it if it doesn’t stop crying!” Then I took a chance that it was feeling a draft from the room. I guess a 65* room feels frigid when your cage is twenty or more degrees warmer. All has been quiet since. They jump into my hand, and don’t startle (yet!) about anything.
The dog cannot get access to them, he’d eat them like kibble! :th

There's not enough meat on them to eat yet. :gig
Constant cheeping makes chilling a distinct possibility.
17 chicks were asleep. The warmest corner was 94*. Everyone had been fine for about four hours. In this case, it wasn’t logical. Too warm was actually a suggestion.
I guess sometimes logical doesn’t apply. Ya gotta give it a shot.
