EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I always start turning the shipped eggs day one.
Yeah that chick was early but even still I was behind on that hatch.
I keep a hatch timer from incubator warehouse by my computer screen. But when I set once or twice a week, I sometimes forget to reset it when I have a hatch complete. It is a handy little tool.

Maybe I should buy a second or third one.

This cat is going to be the death of me. :barnie This time, somehow, she turned the incubator up and it hasn't gone below 105 for the better part of the day. It was at 108 when I caught it! After letting them cool down for a while and after getting a leaking egg out I candled and tossed two. Unsurprisingly, it wasn't the two eggs that were touching the bad egg and got gunk on them. Thursday is lockdown and Sunday is hatch day, so here's hoping things go ok.

I'm also kind of cursing my phone for being crappy. It's got this lovely problem where it doesn't like to keep some apps updated in real time. I got a Bluetooth thermometer/ humidity gauge that's really accurate and can be calibrated if needed (mine didn't). I have it set to go off if the temp drops below 90 or goes above 102. I didn't get an alert until I opened the app. :hmm I really need to get a new phone when I get a chance.

I was crazy busy all day but I should have taken the time to check on the incubator. Heck, I could have done while I cuddled with the turkey after it escaped the brooder.

I'd like to know more about that thermometer.
I have a remote read thermometer/hygrometer that can have up to 3 remote units that I got from a cigar company (for humidors) but it would be more convenient to have it on my phone.

I can’t get into gardening today. I got the quail babies out, and some trash burned. It wasn’t supposed to be windy, but it’s not too awful. Hopefully the day brings more progress.
