EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Nice mix. I’m done incubating for awhile.
I keep saying that. And I keep incubating. I have 3 broody hens right now and a bunch of eggs in the incubator with several upcoming hatch dates.
I've sold a lot of chicks this summer but I've also kept several from each hatch.
I have had adult birds disappear this summer. No dead birds and no piles of feathers, just fewer birds each week. About the only thing I can imagine is either coyotes when I'm not home or perhaps a Great Horned owl at night. (several birds decided to sleep in trees all of a sudden.)

I’ve got a trip planned and thought it unkind to burden the care with more birds than I already have. :lau
I would like to start hatching the Pita Pintas. With only two hens one takes a chance on losing the breed. As you mentioned they tend to disappear. I recently added a top with deer netting to the runs. Owls were regular diners.
Thanks @BullChick for the tip of deer fencing. Holding up well.
