Hopefully they pull through for you.She also won't fish if the cows are laying down. Something my Uncle also taught her. If the cows are laying down, it's a bad day to fish.![]()
At 73, my sister just retired from there. Her second retirement. First was from Anheuser Busch.I know some people that work for the Postal service.

My EE, oldest bird on the property was taken with her flock mates by mink this spring. She was slow but at 7, she was still a reliable layer. She's the grandmother of all the olive eggers in the incubator right now.
That sounds fabulous.Yup, Pulaski. 2- 2 1/2 hr drive from here but well worth it. Crazy place when the Salmon are running. If your willing to walk a couple few miles there is a lot less crowding. First time I went 24yrs ago the old guys that took me headed out two hrs before daylight. I thought they were crazy, said we had to get a good spot. There was already people sleeping on the banks all up that river waiting for official daylight fishing time... I was pretty amazed that first trip, people dragging big fish with a rope right down the side of the roads like cave men Lol!
Usually beautiful nice fall weather. Did go up once when it started snowing and didn't know my waders went to crap, fished all weekend anyway, legs looked like they were sunburnt and even peeled but I brought back six over 30lbs each. We'd go up Friday night and sleep in the back of their truck and not come home till Sunday night unless we caught our limit early Sunday.
One of my best friends lives there now, a couch in a house is way better than the back of a truck with a cap![]()
Steelhead run all winter, haven't tried for them yet.
I remember when the local dairy would deliver milk to the house. There's be a half gallon bottle on the back porch every morning.95 bottles of milk on the wall
Those old timers had all sorts of sayings that usually ring true.
Bullheads won't bite till the peepers freeze three nights, seems to be true in the spring. Also, if it starts raining before seven it quits by eleven, mostly true in the summer anyway.
Hopefully they pull through for you.![]()

have fun!! how are you going to get your post count digging taters? It's actually nice out guys, so I'm going to get dressed and dig potatoes, rake out the run, and then I'll be back.
congrats on the chicks and pool!!A couple news items.
When I left for pool league yesterday, there was one chick out and 7 pips of the 12 eggs. I just checked and there are 7 chicks, one zipping and another pipped. The only egg without action thus far is one I put a question mark on a week ago because it wasn't as advanced as the others. However 2 days ago it had filled the egg so it may just be behind the others. It was one of the oldest eggs of the lot. They were due 15 hours ago so even this one isn't much over 1/2 day late. They're all from the same hen so I would have expected them to be nearly a day between the oldest and newest but most came right on time.
Pool league was a pleasant change of fortune. This was week 5 and we had yet to win a match but we won last night. Each week only one of our players played well and that isn't a recipe for success. It was a different player each week.
I won all 4 of my games and the last 2 were against the best player in the league. So we only needed 5 wins between my other 3 teammates. (race to 9 wins).
My son wasn't there because he had opening night Blues hockey tickets.
Everyone have a good day. As usual, I have lots to do and I keep getting farther behind.
have a great time!!I've got to get 450 by the time i get of the computer! guess what I get to do today? since i am homeschooled, we get to go to a co-op that is ONLY field trips! and today we are going to pick apples, go on a hayride and eat....DONUTS
Happy birthday Sturgis!!!Mostly good. She is adorable!![]()
Okay! She is singing the alphabet in the tub. Today is the dog's eighth birthday. You two need to make him a treat, and plan a party.
good luckThis is my first time hatching and my first time with a broody hen! My silkie hatched out two chicks from a clutch of 6 eggs. It was a staggered hatch since I forgot to mark her first 4 eggs and she collected two more (after that I marked them!). She is now on day 28/22 with one egg remaining. Two eggs were removed after candling showed no chicks at all by day 18 and yes they were just eggs when I cracked them. One egg was removed today due to a terrible smell and after checking, yes just a rotten egg with maybe a tiny bit of early development. The final egg is completely dark, I can see nothing at all. This is the second day I can see nothing including no air cell. I've left her the egg since she's still willing to sit, her two chicks are doing fine with her and I do not know if this egg is from the first 4 or the later 2 eggs. Do you think there is any hope at all for this final egg to become a chick. I am using an egg candler not a flashlight and although being a novice it is very clear I can only see absolute dark in this remaining egg. We didn't candle much at all early on, in fact didn't think anything would come of this clutch until a chick hatched. First chick is now 9 days old, second chick is now 4 days old. I've read and read these forums but still not quite sure at what point we float test or give up and take away this egg. Silkie has been antsy but still sitting.
lolmorning choas, mc, liz, sally, pens, benny(if here), kathy, and like 30 other people that I'll eventually be able to remember... after I have coffee.
they do it a lot, sometimes on purposeit appears the birds i got sent, are officially MIA. Poor ducks and baby chicks.
How does the post office LOSE live babies?
sometimes an employee will help themyeah but live birds are cheeping. So they just let them die?![]()
when did you set them??only one more day till lockdown or would it be conciderd two.????????
YAYYYYY!!!!I haven't had coffee yet, don't blame me for blanking on names. I promise you exist ot me.
@Chaos18 Post office just called.
Apparently, my birds are here, AND alive. ;o
love this pic too!
thats funnyThanks. I think I'll let them go another hour or so. They are running around so much I can't tell if there's one egg or two left.
On my second game, the guy got so mad, I was on the 8 ball and when he missed his shot he grabbed the 8 ball and threw it into the pocket.![]()
The one that is full but unhatched, try a float test. Put it in water and see if it moves around.
Anyone else have suggestions?
I usually just let them stay in an incubator but with a broody, she may just abandon them to take care of the live chicks.
emma is very pretty for being so old, lets hope she toughs it out
Good morning!

4 baby chicks arrived alive. Put them in with my solo silkie hatchling.
3/4 ducks were alive... put them in with the other 2 ducks.
it was probably cold tooOne of the little chicks is falling on it's back and acting kind of sickly. I wrapped it in a paper towel and have it sitting on my desk in a bowl. It's chirping at me and more active now... but the way it was acting in the brooder, I was worried it was going to die![]()
They're just trying to pad their post counts.![]()
Homey don't play that, I naturally talk so much I don't need any help. Once in a while, it even makes sense![]()
X2 and something for energy.Glad to hear that some arrived alive. Make sure to give them electrolytes and probiotics.
Add some agave nectar or sugar to the water to give them some energy. Make sure the water isn't cold.already mixed some stuff in with the water and dipped their beaks trying to get them to drink.
