EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I haven't seen your setup, but I can tell you what works for me.
You've seen those "portable garages" that look like hoop coops and are made out of large tarps? I had one once, 'til the wind tore it up. Fortunately, I salvaged what I could of the tarp. It's silver one one side; great reflector. My run's only 4' W x '14' L, so the tarp covers all but about 3' of the top, with welded wire fencing underneath for support & drainage. The fabric covers about half of the 6' sides, and some less of the end. panel. The tarp's kept snug with strategically placed rubber cargo straps anchored in the chain link sides. The silver reflects the heat, provides shade, & turns the rain & snow, unless it's blowing hard out of the northwest, The whole thing's located under a very large Maple tree, which helps. The whole setup's worked well for me for better than 2 years w/o a problem, except for some rain & snow collecting in low spots in the overhead tarp. A wood fence post longer than the sides are tall pretty much eliminates that problem, though I still have to get underneath with a hoe & help some collected water run off.

We, as a rule, don't get quite the heat you get in south TX, but 100*+ with the heat index is not uncommon. It's the high humidity that makes it bad here.
The humidity makes it bad here, 50-100% humidity, with high temps, 3/4ths of the year. We do get a slight cold snap, but don't think it EVER gets cold enough snow. I haven't seen snow once, since I moved to the border.

Think tropical weather, and that's what we deal with 90% of the year.

I came from Seattle, where it was gray, and cold and misty 90% of the year, with 3 months of 60-90 degree weather, if you're lucky. And if you're lucky in the winter, you might get snow to break up the dreariness of the gray weather. LOL I also lived in NV for a while in the mountain ranges, 100 degree dry heat in the summer, and -20 in the winter with windchill... frozen pipes are NOT fun.

We do get huge tropical rain storms now - and the roof situation with the amount of rain, would be a problem.

What holds the head gate closed? Loop the chain around the opposing upright & clip it back to the eye bolt?

How'd you rig the pivot point? Dowels?
The chain goes around and hooks on an S clip like a chin strap does. I would like to add something to the farceood to use when my buck is up for feet. For the girls it is fine.
It is a bolt and washer.

Thank you, Jess. The farther away you stand, the better it looks.
