EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

The only thing watering grass does, anyway, is create a shallow root system, rather than letting the roots grow deeper to subsurface moisture. The only time I've ever watered grass is when I'm trying to give freshly sown seed a chance to set roots before the birds eat it all, and that was only after a rather major excavation I didn't want to erode before a stand of grass was established to stop it.

Rain sensors are required now. Turns it off in storms as it collects water.

I made some butter before. All we did was cook down applesauce in a crock pot until it was the right consistency.
I have made and canned it before, but I figured if they did it for years they had a good old recipe.
They were selling ten pound bags of MO apples for $2.96  at the store the other day so I am debating whether to make it or put them in my storm shelter/ root cellar.

Lake tobias is a local sorta Zoo place we go to, and they have emu and them other things,  they have tons of nests with eggs out in the open fields and the bus drives right at them and I always wish I could go steal some eggs

hmmm maybe not emu what are those ones they use for meat?????

We still haven't got to go there this year. I would go steal some eggs too I would be the one setting on the back of the bus with my jacket full of eggs and would say what eggs I didn't see any eggs.

What breed is the blou hen in front?
A Marans, isnt she pretty? @mlm Mike just hatched a few of her babies me thinks! Got pics of babies?
Never seen a Marana like that, she is fabulous!

By request: Tucker....He ain't big on closeups #1 son up front....he ain't big on pictures at all! Only time he stood still long enough to get a picture at all. The one in the rear is the one I thought was a cockerel 'til this morning. @daxigait
I am still think it's a cockerel, they sometimes are not close on their gender. ......
I thought about that, also. The comb, while large compared to the vast majority of it's siblings, is smaller than the known cockerels, all of which were hatched within a month of one another ( 5/29 & 7/2). If you can blow it up large enough, I think you'll seen what I mean. I was wrong once before, though, so maybe you're right.
In a few weeks you will be certain!
